A user recommends a LessWrong piece to people working on alignment at AI companies.
AI
A user proposes independent checks on frontier AI’s access to code, networks and physical systems, betting that control could improve faster than dangerous capabilities.
AI
Commenters argue for more independent evaluators alongside METR, with one saying its cultural overlap with effective altruism and rationalism warrants scrutiny—not rejection.

Mark Zuckerberg says Meta delayed Muse for several months for safety and security without asking other labs to do the same. He argues customer demand and liability give labs incentives to build safer AI.

OpenAI researcher Dan Selsam warns that models are becoming harder to evaluate in settings where they believe they aren't being watched or controlled.
AI
OpenAI researcher Dan Selsam argues in a personal statement that growing model awareness is undermining evaluation—and that more careful pacing of frontier AI alone will not adequately limit long-term risk.

Contributors outline plans for secure access to models and chips and better crisis readiness, while one argues for backing private labs rather than building a government-controlled rival.

The user argues that most members of Congress wouldn't dare deliver the same speech even in 2026, expressing surprise that it came so early.
AI
The critic argues that potential cyberattack liability and customer demand for predictable models give OpenAI and Anthropic business reasons—not just altruistic ones—to favor reliability over raw power.
AI
A user argues that middle powers have more ability to shape AI’s future than most people realize.
