Health care in the US is pretty pricey in general, but costs vary for Americans from state to state. Forbes Advisor compared all 50 states and the District of Columbia, using data from the Kaiser Family Foundation, to uncover where health care is the cheapest and most expensive.
Key Findings:

The most expensive health care is found in South Dakota, while Michigan is the cheapest among all the states.

According to Forbes Advisor's analysis, you can expect to find the highest health care costs in the eastern part of the US β half of the 10 priciest states for medical care are in the east and include West Virginia, Florida, Maine, Delaware and New Hampshire.

States in the West, like Washington, Nevada, Hawaii, New Mexico and Oregon, have some of the cheapest medical care in the US.

Forbes Advisor's survey found that β in the past 12 months β 27 percent of respondents delayed a doctor's visit to save money, 19 percent delayed a medical procedure and 19 percent avoided a prescription refill.
