As of 2022, roughly 1.1 percent of the world's population are millionaires — but the amount of money you'd need to become a member of the one percent club depends on which country you're in.
Using data from Knight Frank's 2024 Wealth Report, Visual Capitalist charted the individual net wealth required to join the top one percent in selected countries.
Key Findings:

The highest wealth barrier is found in Monaco, where you'd need nearly $12.9 million to be among the one percent. More than 30 percent of the European microstate's roughly 36,000 people are millionaires.

The US is home to the most millionaires globally, but the country's large population brings its one-percent threshold down to $5.8 million.

The wealth required to be a one percenter in Hong Kong ($3.1 million) is almost three times that of mainland China ($1.1 million).
