Our previous articles on America's worst drivers and the states with the fiercest road rage generated a lot of heated debate when they were published โ€” but have you ever wondered where the laziest drivers in the country live?

To find out where people are most guilty of driving to avoid a walk, Tinting Chicago surveyed 1,578 Americans across 30 cities about the shortest drives they've taken. People's responses were weighted so that researchers could work out an individual's "short drive score," and an average score for every city.

Nearly half of Americans (48 percent) have driven two minutes or less instead of walking.

Drivers in Fort Worth, Las Vegas and Houston take the shortest drives, while people are least likely to take a short drive in New York City, Washington DC and Boston.

More than seven in 10 respondents admitted to driving short distances because they're lazy, and 55 percent of them said they would drive even if a destination was within a 10 minutes or less walking distance.
