The Shocking Moment Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapses After Ship Collision
A rescue search is underway after a cargo ship collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge on Tuesday morning. The container ship's name is being reported as Dali, a 948-foot vessel sailing with a Singaporean flag.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott has declared a local state of emergency. Officials said eight people (all construction workers) fell into the water, and as of Tuesday night, six were still missing. The missing workers have been presumed dead.
On Tuesday afternoon, in a statement addressing the catastrophe, President Biden said that federal aid will bear the cost of repair.

Jesus Campos, a construction worker who knows the crew, said the men were from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico. They are in their 30s and 40s and have spouses and children.

Gov. Wes Moore confirms that the ship's crew issued a mayday and communicated they were experiencing a power issue, enabling transportation officials to halt traffic over the bridge. "These people are heroes. They saved lives last night," Moore said.
