A Home With Its Own Working Train, And More Of Zillow's Best Victorian Houses
If you enjoy gawking at extravagant homes on Zillow, but ridiculously lavish castles aren't really your thing, perhaps you'll like these striking old Victorian properties that are listed online right now instead.
From a house that comes with its own railway and carousel to a beautiful house built way back in 1866, here are some of the best Victorian homes Zillow has to offer.
St Paul, Minnesota — $1,950,000
Built in 1884, this eight-bed, 12-bath home is found on on St Paul's Summit Avenue. With a stunning staircase, oak-walled living room and a sauna, the house's interior is as impressive as the outside — but my favorite room by far is that bright, green marble-floored sunroom.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin — $1,956,000
Featuring maybe the most dated interior design I've ever seen, this place is very much frozen in time — specifically 1891, when it was built. Despite needing some work to bring it into a more recent century, though, it's a beautifully designed building with lots and lots of space (including eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a huge dining area).

Elgin, Illinois — $650,000
This fairytale Victorian, built in 1889, is known as the Pelton Mansion and is registered with the National Historic Society. According to the listing, the home is pretty much unchanged from its original design, boasting 10-foot ceilings and an array of woods throughout. It might be a little dated on the inside, but I wouldn't change a thing about that library.

New Hartford, Connecticut — $595,000
The oldest Victorian on the list, as well as the cheapest, the Philip Chapin House was built in 1866 and is going for just $595,000. The home is listed with the National Register of Historic Places, sits on a sizable two acre plot and boasts a number of impressively large rooms — including a fancy parlor, a grand music room and a cozy study. There's also a wine cellar, because obviously.

Lexington, Illinois — $4,500,000
This house is the priciest on the list, and you'll probably understand why once you've had a look. Built in 1890, it's situated on a whopping 55 acres of land — and along with three floors of rooms connected by a floating staircase, there's a working, restored MTC train that accommodates 36 passengers and a vintage 36-horse carousel. I'm tempted to ask "why?" — but an equally valid question is "why not?"
