InsideAirbnb, founded by activist and artist Murray Cox, is a project that uses data to shed light on Airbnb's impact on residential communities around the world. Using the website's findings, Statista ranked selected US cities and regions according to which have the highest number of listings for every 1,000 people. The figures are accurate as of June 2023.
Key Findings:
-
Of the cities analyzed, Asheville, North Carolina, has the highest density of Airbnbs, with 34.2 listings per 1,000 residents.
-
The most popular tourist destinations don't necessarily have the most Airbnbs; for example, New York City has just 4.9 listings for every 1,000 people, compared to Nashville's 13.0.
