Filmmaker Denis Villeneuve's "Dune: Part Two" has garnered massive praise and rejuvenated its fans, many of whom have been around since the novel's first film adaptation by David Lynch in 1984.
In 1984, I went to the Theatre in Brooklyn to see DUNE and was handed this sheet of paper- print on both sides- and told it was best to read it before the movie started so I would understand it better. Imagine that... pic.twitter.com/mVMxR8AafE

Jimmy Palmiotti, a veteran comic book writer and filmmaker, loved "Dune: Part Two," and was also lucky enough to catch Lynch's film in theaters in the eighties. Back then, Palmiotti was given a glossary printout, including character names, planets and other items from the universe, each with a brief description and pronunciations.
What's our takeaway? They need to bring these back.
And in case you wanted to look for it online:
About 20 years ago, I was trying to buy one of these on eBay for my DUNE collection. Such an odd piece of movie memorabilia.

I discussed this with a young Co-Worker yesterday. I went to see a "Sneak" of '84 "DUNE" at Times Square theater a few weeks before it opened. I told him about the "glossary" that was handed out. (I had read the first three books during the late 70s).

He couldn't believe it.๐คฃ
Went to see a matinee of Einstein On The Beach, Philip Glass' first opera at the Brooklyn Music Academy, and then Dune in the evening on Time Square (opening weekend). They gave the same sheet of paper. What a day that was...

This was on an insert I found recently in my Dune '84 Steelbook DVD set. I wished I'd found it sooner, so my wife wouldn't have been so confused going into part one. LOL

I remember and old episode of @ConanOBrien where he was joking with the guest about getting a Dune cheat sheet before seeing the movie. I thought it was just a bit. ๐
