Here at Digg, we try our best to cover the most important and confounding memes that come across the timeline. But the web is littered with tons of great memes that never quite hit the mainstream and instead just bounce around the weird corners of Twitter or Reddit. Enter our recurring feature, Memes, Ranked.

This week, we’ve got the Nintendo Direct livestream inundating us with farming sims, jokes about the Queen’s corgis, Cillian Murphy’s very good day and extremely good captions for an image of Carmy from “The Bear.”

4. Nintendo Direct

The meme

There are a LOT of gamers who come to Digg for our gaming content, and for that I thank you. The following memes below will be instantly funny and recognizable to you all, so feel free to skip the following paragraphs. Gamers rise up.

So for all my noobs, hello and welcome to the world of video games! They’re fun and the jokes about them are even better. There was a digital showcase of new games for the Nintendo Switch, known as a Nintendo Direct, that happened the other day, and a lot of the announcements were…weird, to say the least.

Chief among them was a surplus of farming simulators, just too many farming games. The creator of Super Mario showed up and said nothing about the Mario movie, which was very odd. And the entire video was not livestreamed in the UK because of the Queen’s death, which is extremely bizarre because anyone could just pick the US feed and get the same info. So the following jokes mainly pertain to those specific moments.

3. The Queen’s Corgis

The meme

In case you somehow missed it, the Queen of the United Kingdom died last week aged 96. Second to being the queen, the thing Elizabeth is probably best known for is her love of corgis — and many were left wondering what would become of them now that she’s gone.

According to an Independent article addressing this very question, the queen had stopped breeding her favorite pups because she did “not wish any to survive her in the event of her death”. A tweet highlighting this line — which totally makes it sound like the dogs are now going to be killed off — has gone viral and sparked a flood of brilliant memes.

(To be clear, the corgis are going to stay alive, and will be cared for by Prince Andrew — though some would argue this is a fate worse than death.)

2. Cillian Murphy’s Very Good Day

The meme

In the wake of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, there were a few general reaction. Some people mourned the death of a long-reigning monarch. Some people celebrated the death of a symbol of colonialism. And some people were very, very happy for the Irish — no one more so than the Irish themselves.

If you’re not familiar with the history of Irish-English relations, there’s a quick primer here at the BBC that covers conflicts between the countries stretching from the Troubles in the 20th century — featuring strong anti-Irish prejudice and decades of violence — all the way back to the English Crown taking control of Ireland in the 16th century.

But what does all this have to do with actor Cillian Murphy, of “Peaky Blinders” and “Inception” fame? Oh, not much, just that he’s Irish — and never, ever hesitates to make that very, very clear to people who get it wrong.

So people on Twitter surmised that the day the Queen died was not too shabby a day for him.

1. Carmy In The Kitchen

The meme

A promo image of Jeremy Allen White as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto intensely standing in the middle of a busy kitchen in the FX series “The Bear” has captured the imagination of the internet in recent days.

Alex Paddemas got the ball rolling by using the image to quip about making dinner two nights in a row instead of ordering food.

After Paddemas’s tweet went viral, the meme began to take on a life of its own as more and more netizens took to Twitter to share their own captions about how their rudimentary cooking skills made them on par with Carmy in the kitchen.
