Here at Digg, we try our best to cover the most important and confounding memes that come across the timeline. But the web is littered with tons of great memes that never quite hit the mainstream and instead just bounce around the weird corners of Twitter or Reddit. Enter our recurring feature, Memes, Ranked.

This week, we've got unhinged AI art, failed entries for Minnesota's new flag, Tiger Woods content and reactions to a sex video filmed in the Senate.

4. Big Dog

The Meme

At a recent golf tournament, Tiger Woods was filmed getting ready with his team, which involved dapping them up and sending an encouraging message: "Big dog, let's go to work."

Soon after, a screenshot of Woods's "big dog" moment was captured, and a meme was born.

3. 'A beginner could not make this'

The Meme

This meme began in response to an X user who attempted to defend AI-generated art by sharing one of the most ridiculously grotesque images we've seen in a while.

Part copypasta, part excuse to post unhinged AI artwork for a goof, the meme gives us some deeply unsettling nonsense to look at. There exist a number of specific use cases for generative AI that many folks can get onboard with to some degree, but the loudest advocates of these AI tools have absolutely zero understanding of art, and what they consider to be good reflects that deficit.

2. Minnesota's new flag

The Meme

This week, Minnesota unveiled its new state flag after soliciting nearly 2,000 design entries. The new flag, which won by a 11-1 vote, features two blocks of blue and an eight-point North Star. As soon as the winner was announced, Minnesotans took to X and posted graphics of their own losing renditions to show the state what it was missing out on.

1. The Senate sex video

The Meme

Over the weekend, news broke that a congressional staffer had been fired after allegedly filming himself having sex in a Senate hearing room. An explicit video, published by right-wing news site The Daily Caller, appears to show two men having sex in Hart 216 — a judiciary room where, among other significant events, the 9/11 commission hearings and former FBI director James Comey's 2017 testimony on Donald Trump took place.

This is, obviously, one of the wildest political news stories of the year, and people on X wasted no time posting memes and witty remarks in response to it. What a way to round off 2023.

If you're hungry for more memes, here's the last edition of "The Week's Best Memes,", where we imagined two characters we'd like to see in a room together, visited Gag City and feared Panera's Charged Lemonade.
