Here at Digg, we try our best to cover the most important and confounding memes that come across the timeline. But the web is littered with tons of great memes that never quite hit the mainstream and instead just bounce around the weird corners of Twitter or Reddit. Enter our recurring feature, Memes, Ranked.

This week, we're gatekeeping popular films, lip-reading Selena and Taylor's chat, sharing the streets of our childhoods and reacting to trendy celebrities in the most unhinged way possible.

4. Gatekeeping movies

The Meme

Over the past few days, people on X have been sharing poorly obscured screenshots of well-known films, along with the caption, "Movie so good I have to gatekeep." Pretty funny stuff.

3. Slay, mother, etc.

The Meme

Some weeks are more unhinged than others when it comes to memes, and this particular one is so far from the hinges that I'm starting to forget what they actually look like.

As all of the celebrity fashion from the Golden Globes started being passed around social media, a number of X users took it upon themselves to take a certain slice of LGBTQ slang (think "Drag Race") and go wild with it. I'm all for slaying, but the toilet stuff is doing me in.

2. Selena and Taylor gossiping

The Meme

This is a fun and innocent meme everyone can get in on! It's very rare we get these types of "fill in the blank" cultural moments, but this one can be as petty or benign as you want it to be — which makes the meme a versatile one that will last as long as Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift are famous and still friends.

The two were caught on camera having a chat at the Golden Globes over the weekend, but no one could tell for sure what they were saying, so X users took the liberty of filling in their conversation. This is true art; projecting meaning onto something with no concrete answer.

1. 'I grew up on these streets'

The Meme

People are writing "I grew up on these streets," along with a picture of a toy, video game, movie or TV show from their childhood. That's it; that's the meme.

And if you're hungry for more memes, here's the last edition of "The Week's Best Memes,", which had Brits reacting to a landmark not being on fire, memes sparked by a great Jim Downey joke and people making the most of "Steamboat Willie" losing copyright protection.
