4. TikTok losing UMG music

The Meme

After failing to extend an existing contract, all of the music on TikTok that's licensed from Universal Music Group (UMG) has been muted. Unsurprisingly, individual TikTokers and brands alike have taken to meme-ifying the situation. Folks are now dancing to royalty-free music from prolific internet musician Kevin MacLeod, and a number of indie musicians have been celebrating the downfall of big record companies dominating the TikTok sound landscape.

3. When your card declines at therapy

The Meme

Earlier this week, X user @pradaice wrote on the app: "When your card declines in therapy so they bring out the dude you dated when you were 19." The post obviously struck a chord with X users, because the website was soon inundated with posts revealing what other people would most hate to be confronted with during a therapy session.

2. Drake's (alleged) leaked nude

The Meme

Canadian rapper Drake was trending this week, and not for his music or for appearing at a Raptors game. A video allegedly showing Drake naked and performing a sex act was leaked online β€” and in order to keep my job, I will leave it at that. You can go down a Google search for any and all X-rated material if you want, but we're only really interested in the memes the news sparked.

No one can be entirely sure whether the video is real or not, considering the rise of deepfake and AI-generated videos involving celebrities β€” but Drake did appear to respond to the leak in a now-deleted Instagram story. Either way, if you want to be in on the jokes about Drake's penis, then by all means, scroll on.

The Meme

Singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman is back in the headlines for the first time in years after a spell-binding performance of "Fast Car" at the Grammys. Not only did the song shoot to number one on the iTunes Top Songs chart soon after, but it sparked two different memes: one changing the "Fast Car" lyrics to funny, similar-sounding words, and one showing people's various plans to "get us out of here."
