In the era of true crime podcasts and record-breaking documentaries, serial killers are a topic of obsession for a good chunk of our society. Not only have such crimes impacted victims and their families, they also leave echoes in their communities for decades.

Redditor u/fossacecak put out a call for people who are reasonably sure they've interacted with serial killers. For better or worse, people showed up in droves to share their experiences with strangers on the internet.

The thing that really comes through for me, in all this, is the sheer incompetence of the police. The cops letting dahmer take his escaped victim back to his lair comes to mind.
