Have you been seeing a flurry of Pop-Tarts-related content on your feed lately? We can help explain what is going on, because it's all the fault of deranged sports people and College Football Bowl season. For the uninitiated, college football teams play in bowl games at the end of the year, and there's dozens of them, all sponsored by companies that brand each game with a ridiculous name and some sort of gimmick.
For the Duke's Mayo Bowl, the winning coach gets drenched in mayonnaise. For the Orange Bowl, it's a bowl of oranges you win. It's all very corporate, silly and harmless fun for both the players and fans (and definitely the corporations funding the whole thing) — but this week, one particular game has captured the attention of the internet more than any other.
The Pop-Tarts Bowl.
Things got started earlier in the week, when the official trophy was unveiled. Based on its iconic design, and the jokes it inevitably sparked, it was clear even then that this Pop-Tarts-themed event was going to be special.
I have an issue with this. Clearly there should be brown sugar and cinnamon Pop Tarts in the trophy. Everyone knows those are elite. https://t.co/UdEkF7K7Or

The whole game lends itself beautifully to the art of memeing: it had a funny looking mascot, preposterous eye-catching moments, joke-worthy images and people arguing about the best flavor. You can't really ask for a better way to wrap up the year. What's better than than the galvanizing power of Pop-Tarts and its hand-in-hand commercial advertising across every screen in America?
Before everyone forgerts, there was also a football game: Kansas State beat NC State 28-19, but no one really cares about that. We're here for the memes.

I asked if it was offensive to eat a Pop-Tart in front of the @PopTartsBowl mascot and then its handler yelled out “ITS THEIR DREAM” and then the mascot grabbed a Pop-Tart out of my hand and started force-feeding it to me while making soft grunting noises pic.twitter.com/PaCDY6mzu3
