VGC says Nvidia is claimed to be focusing all GB202 production on pricier RTX Pro GPUs for AI data centres.
VGC reports that Nvidia has reportedly stopped producing RTX 5090 GPUs. It says Nvidia is claimed to be focusing all production of the GB202 silicon used in those cards on significantly more expensive RTX Pro GPUs used by AI data centres.

Nvidia has reportedly halted RTX 5090 production, according to Tom’s Hardware. Its report cites a leaked notice from an unidentified factory, shared by hardware leaker @hongxing2020, that allegedly says Nvidia will no longer make any RTX 5090 models, including the China-focused D variants.
A second leaker, @Zed__Wang, claimed future supplies of the GB202 silicon used by the card will instead go exclusively to data-center and professional graphics cards. Nvidia had not confirmed the report or responded to Tom’s Hardware when the article was published.
The same chip powers Nvidia’s professional lineup. Tom’s Hardware notes that the RTX Pro 5500 has the same 21,760 CUDA cores as the RTX 5090 but pairs them with 84GB of GDDR7 memory instead of 32GB, targeting professional visualization and AI work. The outlet argues that reserving limited GB202 supply for higher-priced professional cards would reduce competition between Nvidia’s consumer and enterprise products, but that remains analysis rather than a stated Nvidia rationale.
VGC reports that the RTX 5090 launched at $1,999 in January 2025, while street prices have since climbed to roughly $4,000 to $5,000 or more. Existing partner and retailer inventory means cards would not vanish immediately even if production has stopped, though Tom’s Hardware says a prolonged supply cutoff could further tighten availability and affect prices.
