Nvidia has pushed back on reports that the RTX 5090 is being killed off. After the RTX Spark Launch Party in Taipei on Oct. 16, Nvidia senior vice president Jeff Fisher told 4Gamers that the flagship gaming card had not been discontinued and would continue shipping. He also acknowledged that supply-chain capacity is constrained and said Nvidia is working to get products to market.
That response contradicts a set of unconfirmed leaks that sparked the discontinuation story. As Dexerto recounts, leakers claimed a factory notice ended RTX 5090 and China-only RTX 5090 D production so their chips could be used in professional graphics cards and data-center hardware. They also floated an unannounced 24GB RTX 5080 as a possible replacement for the current 16GB model.
Fisher did not specify shipment volumes, identify the RTX 5090 variants he referenced, or say when supply might improve. Nvidia’s statement settles its official position on discontinuation, but it does not explain the alleged allocation changes or promise that the card will become easier to buy.
