Helldivers 2 is deactivating Eagle Storm, one of the actions tied to the Democracy Space Station, after months of complaints that the supposed battlefield aid could become a friendly-fire hazard.

The game's official account announced the decision on September 22 in its usual in-universe voice. “High Command” blamed an “unquantifiable situation” with serious consequences for the next financial quarter's resource budget. The post did not provide a technical explanation or say whether the action would return in a revised form.

The Democracy Space Station is a community-directed system: players help decide where it is deployed and contribute in-game resources to activate effects. Eagle Storm was designed around repeated air attacks and could be strategically useful during defense campaigns, but the system's indiscriminate fire also earned a reputation for killing the Helldivers it was meant to support. GamesRadar describes the deactivation as the removal of a buff that had become a team-killing problem.

For now, the confirmed change is narrow: Eagle Storm is being switched off. The announcement does not say the wider Democracy Space Station, its voting system or its other actions are being removed.
