Marching Band Debuts Dr. Evil-Themed Halftime Show To Call Out Houston ISD Superintendent
A college football matchup featuring two Houston universities created an opportunity to scrutinize the city's largest school district and its new top administrator that was selected by the state.
Houston ISD and its state-appointed superintendent, Mike Miles, have faced intense scrutiny from community members across the largest school district in the state. Miles, a former superintendent for Dallas ISD, was chosen by Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath to assume leadership of Houstin ISD. As commissioner, Morath also replaced the nine elected trustees of Houston ISD with a state-appointed board of managers in what has been a long-spanned takeover.
