The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) recently published their Worldwide Cost of Living report for 2022, which compares the cost of more than 200 everyday products and services in 172 cities globally to reveal the world's most expensive places to live. Here's what they found, illustrated in a visualization by Statista.
According to the EIU's research, New York and Singapore take joint first place on the list. The second-most expensive city in 2022 is Tel Aviv, Israel, while Hong Kong and Los Angeles are tied for the third spot.
The report also found that cost of living in the largest cities worldwide increased by an average of 8.1 percent this year, citing the invasion of Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic as driving factors.
