Using IMDb data, Reddit user Zolroth gathered the movie directors with eight or more films and 16,000 or more votes per film β there are 182 β and ranked them according to which had the highest average movie ratings on IMDb.
Overall, "Oppenheimer" director Christopher Nolan is the highest-rated, with an average score of 8.20. Both he and the second-highest scoring director, Studio Ghibli filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, have never received a score below seven out of ten for one of their feature-length movies.
Of the top 30 highest-scoring directors, Richard Linklater takes the bottom spot, with an average rating of just 7.08. Of all the votes given to his movies on IMDb, just 52.4 percent were scores of seven or higher.
