While other countries have pickup trucks in good supply, the difference is stark when it comes to how different countries around the world compare with the US, which according to one analysis makes up 44 percent of the global pickup demand.

The Ford F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle in America since 1982, and the following map, based on Edmunds data from 2022, shows just how popular the truck still is.

Key Findings:

  • The three most popular vehicles in the US are the Chevy Silvarado, which is the most popular in 16 states, the Ford F-Series, most popular in 14 and the Toyota RAV4, most popular in 12.

  • States that each had a unique most popular car include California (Tesla Model Y), Hawaii (Toyota Tacoma), Florida (Toyota Corolla), New Jersey (Honda CR-V) and Arkansas (GMC Sierra).
