We've previously looked at which countries have seen the biggest increase in happiness since 2010, based on Gallup's World Happiness Reports, which asked people to rate their life satisfaction from one to 10. Now, a graph by Visual Capitalist shows which countries' happiness scores have declined by the largest number of points over the same period.

Afghanistan has seen the largest drop in life satisfaction in the last 13 years, with its happiness score falling by 2.6 points to just 1.7, making it the unhappiest country in the world right now. The Taliban's return to power in 2021, after twenty years of American occupation, has had a devastating impact on almost every facet of life in the country, including employment, healthcare, education and women's rights.

The second-biggest decline was seen in Lebanon, whose average happiness fell by 2.3 points, and Jordan, which saw a decline of 1.5.
