Vancouver-based accessories brand Herschel Supply is in the business of bags. You've no doubt seen their strap-bedecked, retro/modern packs lashed to the backs of young and with-it world travelers — or subway riders — near you. If you've already got a backpack but still want to try out their stuff, go for the ultralight duffel. It's a convertible, packable bag that maintains the classic Herschel style with minimalist detailing and timeless form. Your dad might have carried this bag to his gym in the 80s.

Made from ripstop nylon, the bag has a thirty liter capacity but is about as light as it gets. Carry options include the reinforced webbing handles with snap closure, or turn the bag into a backpack by unzipping the bottom and revealing the stowed padded straps.

When you're not using it — or want to pack it as an extra bag option on your next trip — use the integrated zippered sleeve to stuff the duffel into its own storage pocket.
