The island drifting around the middle of a body of water, untethered to the Earth, is a classic trope of many a great work of high fantasy. It's also a completely real thing. Check out this absolutely wild scene from Norway:

 

This phenomenon has a name โ€” a floating island โ€” and they're not just in Norway. Minnesota is famous for them, as is upstate New York. In fact, they're found all over the world.

But if you want to visit this hanging bog, one redditor found the exact spot in Norway where you might be able to get a good look at it, right here.

Who knows if it'll be there, though. After all, these things are known for their wanderlust.
