Living With Sharks

 

Two bull sharks suspended in formaldehyde is just one of the artworks awaiting guests who stay in a suite in Las Vegas' Palms Casino Resort. The massive two-story Sky Villa, called Empathy Suite, is clad in over-the-top decor that was designed by British artist Damien Hirst and firm Bentel & Bentel.

A Capsule Hotel Inspired By Teahouses

 

Japan's capsule hotels, aging shelters once relegated to desperate salaryman who had missed their last train, are experiencing somewhat of a renaissance. After the 9h Hotel showed us how design could help breathe new life into what was thought of as outdated, a number of different iterations have cropped up. The latest? A minimal teahouse-inspired capsule hotel.

Spell It Out With Your Body

 

collaborative type foundry NM type has produced an experimental font design by studying the dance of south african choreographer andile vellem. 'movement' is comprised of [sic] 121-characters inspired by the motions of the human body, translated by shapes written in the air.

The Hayarden School For Refugee Children In Tel Aviv

 

With hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing from mostly Africa to Israel over the last decade, the educational system didn't have the resources to support the families and their children. To aid them, a 1960s elementary school in Tel Aviv was renovated by Ayelet Fisher and architect Chen Steinberg Navon of Steinberg Fisher.
