IN GOOD (AND BAD) COMPANY

It's hard to know for sure what level of goodwill consumers may hold towards certain organizations, but if you're seeking a way to quantify public perception of some of the most well-known organizations out there, TitleMax's graph here is a good place to start:

The ranking seen here is based on a survey by Harris Poll that surveyed 18,228 US adults on six different categories, including social responsibility, products and services and emotional appeal. According to the poll, the Rochester-based Wegmans Food Market had the highest reputation among the 100 organizations respondents were asked to evaluate, which is perhaps to be expected considering how well-loved the supermarket chain is. And Amazon, despite its troubling treatment of its workforce, ranks second.

Since the Harris Poll is not limited to corporations and includes public organizations, the US government currently is the organization with the worst reputation, according to the survey. Dissatisfaction with the current president runs high, as the Trump Organization ranks third among organizations with the lowest reputations.

For the first time, Facebook makes an appearance on the top 10 worst reputations list, a placement that's likely due to the company's lengthy spate of scandals, from the $5 billion fine it received from the FTC over privacy breaches to the revealing of the horrendous workplace environment of its moderators.
