A HUGE PILE OF SHIP
·Updated:
·

This interactive map shows the movements of tens of thousands of cargo ships around the world, revealing key trade pathways and the way materials and goods are moved back and forth around the world.

The map is built from data showing ship locations in 2012, so it's not exactly what things look like today, but it's a pretty close approximation. Click on the play button in the upper right hand to get a guided tour of the interactive.
