New High-Res Pluto Photo Shows
BADLANDS, GOOD PICTURE
·Updated:

New Horizons flew by Pluto months ago, but NASA continues to release stunning images of the planet in a slow trickle. Last week, NASA released a large black and white photo mosaic of the dwarf planet's "badlands." Today, NASA released an enhanced color version, giving us earthlings an even more vivid look at what's on the icy planet's surface.

They may be called bad, but they look oh so good.

The images form a strip 50 miles (80 kilometers) wide, trending (top to bottom) from the edge of "badlands" northwest of the informally named Sputnik Planum, across the al-Idrisi mountains, onto the shoreline of Pluto's "heart" feature, and just into its icy plains.
