Meta reportedly settles with second teen plaintiff in social media addiction test case

Meta settled with K.D.B., the second teen plaintiff in a Los Angeles social media addiction test case, her attorneys said Friday, according to Reuters. Jury selection had begun Wednesday in a trial of the teens’ claims against Meta and Snapchat parent Snap. Meta had settled with co-plaintiff S.J. days before the trial, and Reuters said the case was expected to proceed against Snap alone.

K.D.B., an 18-year-old from Mississippi, accused Meta of designing Instagram and Facebook to be addictive, causing mental health problems and disordered eating, Reuters reported. S.J., 16, is from Illinois. Both had previously settled with TikTok and YouTube. reported that the terms of Meta’s settlement with K.D.B. were not disclosed.
