Eurogroup seeks nominees to replace ECB President Christine Lagarde by Nov. 6

Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis has asked eurozone governments to submit candidates to succeed Christine Lagarde as European Central Bank president by Nov. 6, 2026. Ministers plan to discuss the nominations on Nov. 9, along with the process for filling two other ECB board seats. The European Council, not the ministers, will make the final appointment.
