Christine Lagarde to leave ECB presidency early on Feb. 7, 2027

Christine Lagarde is set to leave the ECB presidency on Feb. 7, 2027, before her term ends in October, according to CNBC’s account of the bank’s announcement. The Financial Times reports that the European Council will appoint her successor. It also reports Dutch backing for Klaas Knot and Spanish support for Pablo Hernández de Cos, neither of whom has been appointed.
