Startup Releases Terahertz Band Sensor it says beats conventional Radar and LiDAR for cars

Terdar, a Boston-based company, has unveiled its first terahertz-band vision sensor for cars, called Summit, at the Consumer Electronics Show 2026. The sensor is designed to combine the best qualities of lidar and radar sensors, offering high-resolution and long-range capabilities in all weather conditions. Teradar aims to help automakers add partial or full autonomy features to their vehicles, with plans to start shipping the sensor by 2028. The company is already working with five top automakers and three Tier 1 suppliers, and has secured $150 million in Series B funding, including from Lockheed Martin’s venture arm and VXI Capital.
