Uber president Jill Hazelbaker to join OpenAI as chief corporate affairs officer

Hazelbaker has spent more than a decade at Uber, where she led global marketing, communications, policy and safety teams, Axios reported. A promotion in May added human resources, recruiting and real estate to her portfolio. The Information co-reporter Jemima McEvoy wrote that Hazelbaker’s last day at Uber will be Nov. 30. McEvoy did not give a start date at OpenAI.

In a statement quoted by Axios, Hazelbaker described AI as “the most profound technological shift of our lifetime” and said building public trust “has never been more consequential.” Brockman also stressed the importance of earning public trust as AI becomes part of more people’s lives.
