Meta Engineers Leverage Counter Offers for Higher Pay
Gergely Orosz reports Meta engineers receiving large counter offers when resigning.
Gergely Orosz describes engineers reassigned to data labeling at Meta who interview elsewhere and receive offers. Upon giving notice they get large counter offers from Meta. Most use the counters to negotiate more money at the new employer instead of staying. He states nearly all Meta engineers have responded to recruiter messages since May or June. Anthropic, OpenAI and Google have hired tenured staff from the company. Ryan Nystrom urged Meta engineers to leave and build elsewhere while Peter Steinberger called the situation brutal.
