Nintendo Switch 2 reportedly jailbroken with software-only ns2jb exploit

Developer pepsipu has published a technical account of ns2jb, a claimed software-only, tethered Nintendo Switch 2 jailbreak that the developer says works on firmware 23.0.1. The writeup is dated Oct. 18, 2026. In an Oct. 22 post reproduced by VideoCardz, pepsipu presented a Mario Kart World mod adding characters including Cinnamoroll, Peter Griffin and Hatsune Miku.

According to the developer’s writeup, the exploit begins with an integer overflow in the interpreter for SmileBASIC, a Switch 1 application that runs on Switch 2. It then uses a path-normalization buffer overflow in fs, a filesystem system module. Pepsipu says the resulting access allows native code to run with ordinary system-module permissions and within fs, enabling homebrew, game modifications and save backups. The practical limits matter. VideoCardz reports that the method needs no modchip but does require a connected computer and reactivation after every restart. It does not provide full control of the Switch 2 operating system or persistent custom firmware. Pepsipu also that the team has no current route into built-in system modules other than and hopes the work will help the homebrew community move toward custom firmware.
