@levelsioThis is essentially my belief too And I'm confused why so many people don't think this yet The AI chat apps will slowly eat up most services and provide them to users directly, many times without even an app or interface, just do whatever the user wants Dario Anthropic said it himself "in the end there will be just Anthropic and world governments" or similar, as they (and the other AI labs) will replace all work and all services The question is the timeline
@0xQuanticOne consequence I don’t see discussed enough: AI agents could destroy a lot of the value of consumer inertia. Humans might tolerate bad pricing, bad UX and mediocre services because switching and comparing takes effort. And software doesn’t get tired of comparing. A surprising number of businesses are built on that exact friction.
@hustlin_heev@levelsio As someone who talked to my users They are so so so not technical Like boomers and marketer girlies I cannot image them vibe coding anything But maybe ur right, it’ll just get so good at u won’t need to think thru or problem solve.

@rileybrownThis realization hit me like a truck in January of this year. I was vibe coding an app that used 2 external APIs to solve a specific problem. Then, while I was building it, I realized… the agent that was building the app could just use those APIs more easily than the static app ever could. Then I thought… “A normie wouldn’t set that up.” Then I thought… wait, they won’t have to. The end state of ChatGPT is just AGI solving its users’ problems. Reactively and proactively, no matter what they are. Whatever interface is needed will be spawned on command.
@marckohlbruggePeople conflate two separate ideas: 1) AI makes it easier to build your own software (cancel ScrapingBee and vibe code your own scraper) 2) AI makes software obsolete (you don’t need a booking site, you book directly through ChatGPT) The latter is a compelling idea, but mostly theoretical for now I think. I don’t know anyone who has booked their holiday through ChatGPT even though it’s technically possible. Also, when booking a hotel, ChatGPT still needs to know which hotels have availability etc. System of record stuff can’t be generated on-the-fly. Software will change, but I haven’t seen a convincing argument yet that it will disappear
@ryantalks1024I agree more with this opinion than the SaaS is dead one The app layer is definitely fading away I like the term “headless SaaS” Think personalized agents interacting with your product instead Maybe in the future we will no longer market to humans 🤖
@nico_jeannenBecause people compare in terms of "medium" and not in terms of "job" So people say "My users are not technical, so they won't vibe-code" but they dont need to, the AI will do the code in the background, but they won't call themselve vibe coders, they won't even know (nor care) code is being done in the background All they care about is that whatever thing they are trying to do (eg sending a message) is done Ex: Sending important info to someone ASAP Middle age: Send Homing pigeon / Courier Industrial: Use Telegraph / Post Office Early Internet: Phone call / Fax PC era: Write an Email Smartphone era: Write a Text / Whatsapp AI: Tell your AI a TL:DR and it write The job is exactly the same as middle age, but the medium changed cause more efficient. So the "surface" they use and see totally change but the job is the same. IMO AI will wreck any basic task SaaS etc cause it's just easy to replicate and way more convenient for users (they can do all those small stuff in 1 place) Tho specialized workflows etc will prob need their own thing still, very unlikely that it ends up being the "only company"
