Insider Gaming reports that the anonymous GTA 6 leaker known as Cyberleek has threatened to release a playable build of the game if a related cryptocurrency reaches a $30 million market cap. Cyberleek claims the build contains the full story mode, can be played through the ending and includes the credits. The outlet said it did not link to the leaker's website because it could contain malware.
The reported demand gives Take-Two another way to prevent the release: publish a physical edition of GTA 6 and apologize for not doing so. Insider Gaming said the threat did not include a deadline.
Cyberleek's claim remains unverified. Insider Gaming said the leaker had already released more than an hour of footage, but noted that the supposed full-build release could be a bluff. The Verge reported on Oct. 8 that Cyberleek had returned with a 25-minute gameplay video and used it to advertise a cryptocurrency.
Rockstar had addressed the broader leak campaign in August, before this latest threat. In a statement reported by The Verge, the studio called the leaks “heartbreaking for our team” and warned that spoilers could affect the intended experience. The Verge also reported that Take-Two sought subpoenas as it tried to identify the alleged infringers. GTA 6 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on Nov. 19.
