OpenAI's annualized revenue run rate reportedly neared $70 billion in September 2026

Axios reports that OpenAI’s annual recurring revenue is nearing $70 billion, a sharp acceleration that the outlet attributes in part to enterprise sales more than doubling since July (Axios).

The outlet says OpenAI’s annualized revenue run rate has grown more than 70% since the beginning of the third quarter, reaching almost $70 billion (Axios). Over the same period, Axios reports that OpenAI’s business-to-business revenue increased by more than 100% (Axios).

Axios also reports that on the consumer side, OpenAI added more revenue during the third quarter than it added during all of 2025 (Axios).

The reported growth arrives as OpenAI and Anthropic prepare for IPOs, a step that could offer investors a much clearer look at how quickly major AI companies are expanding and how much they are spending to do it (Axios).
