OpenAI, Anthropic and Nvidia reportedly posted their biggest lobbying quarters in Q3 2026

OpenAI, Anthropic and Nvidia each posted their highest-spending federal lobbying quarter from July through September 2026, Lauren Feiner reports in The Verge. Nvidia spent $2.2 million, Anthropic $2.1 million and OpenAI $1.5 million, according to Feiner. Together, that is $5.8 million in quarterly lobbying spending, not spending on any one policy issue.

The topics Feiner lists cover different corners of tech policy. Anthropic lobbied on AI-related provisions in the Kids Online Safety Act and export control provisions in the AI Overwatch Act. OpenAI engaged federal offices on cybersecurity evaluations for frontier models, AI safety oversight frameworks and antitrust protections for information sharing. Nvidia’s topics included competition policy, responsible AI design and export controls. Those lists identify issues the companies lobbied on, not the positions they took on particular measures.
