TLDR

SpaceX launched its Transporter-18 rideshare mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Oct. 1, carrying 130 payloads on a Falcon 9. Spaceflight Now’s coverage identified the first-stage booster as B1082 on its 25th flight, and NASASpaceflight posted that it landed back at Vandenberg’s LZ-4 after launch.

SpaceX launched its Transporter-18 rideshare mission on a Falcon 9 from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Oct. 1, sending 130 payloads to orbit as part of the company’s smallsat Transporter program.

The launch was confirmed in posts from SpaceX, Spaceflight Now, and NASASpaceflight, with Spaceflight Now describing liftoff from Vandenberg through the fog and calling it SpaceX’s second orbital flight of the day.

According to Spaceflight Now’s livestream listing, the mission used Falcon 9 first-stage booster B1082 for its 25th flight. The same listing said Spaceflight Now’s live commentary was set to begin about 30 minutes before liftoff.

The first stage also appeared to make it back to the launch site area. Spaceflight Now’s launch listing said the booster was expected to return to Vandenberg for a landing at LZ-4, and NASASpaceflight later posted that the booster touched down on LZ-4.

That combination makes Transporter-18 another dense rideshare launch for SpaceX: one rocket, a long list of smaller spacecraft, and a booster that, based on the supplied launch coverage, was flying for the 25th time.

@ispaceflight_inINDIA ON SPACEX TRANSPORTER-18 TODAY Falcon 9 lifts off from Vandenberg at 11:18 am PT (23:48 IST) with three Indian private space missions on the manifest. 1. Dhruva Space (Hyderabad): LEAP-2 satellite A satellite from Dhruva's LEAP program (Launching Expeditions for Aspiring Payloads), which offers hosted-payload missions on its P-30 satellite bus. It is listed on SpaceX's official manifest as "DHRUVA SPACE LEAP-2", manifested by Dhruva Space, and deploys about 58 minutes after liftoff. Dhruva announced in 2025 that LEAP-2 would carry France's Sodern HORUS star tracker for an in-orbit demonstration. 2. SatLeo Labs (Ahmedabad): TAPAS-1 India's first dedicated commercial CubeSat-category thermal payload, about 3 kg. Business Standard reports it launches via Dhruva's LEAP-2 mission. Its long-wave infrared sensor maps land surface temperature, which optical imagery cannot do, from about 500 km up for an expected three years. Why it matters: it is SatLeo's first step toward PYRO, a planned thermal constellation of 10 to 15 satellites by 2029. TAPAS-2 is in manufacturing for mid-2027. Uses: urban heat, agriculture, methane and landfill monitoring, disaster response, defence. 3. TakeMe2Space (Hyderabad): MOI-1A India's first orbital computing satellite. It uses Nvidia Orin NX chips so customers can upload AI models that run in orbit and downlink only the results. It has 117 TOPS of compute, 2TB of storage and a nine-band multispectral imager, with 23 customers signed up. It rides a D-Orbit orbital transfer vehicle, with orbital injection expected by October 8. Why it matters: it replaces MOI-1, which was lost in January when ISRO's PSLV-C62 failed. TakeMe2Space rebooked on the first available Falcon 9 rideshare. #Transporter18 #Falcon9 #DhruvaSpace #LEAP2 #SatLeo #TAPAS1 #TakeMe2Space #MOI1A #IndianSpace
