When does a game become "retro"?

This comes up constantly and I'm genuinely curious where people draw the line. Is it a fixed era—anything before 2000? Is it generational—two console cycles back? Or is it more about aesthetic and technology?

Because I've seen people call the PS2 retro now and that makes me feel ancient. Where's your cutoff?
