Healthy Paws is a pet insurance company that provides coverage for cats and dogs. They have unlimited lifetime benefits, high reimbursement, and affordable coverage with top-rated customer service.
Coverage
Healthy Paws' policies cover accidents, illnesses, hereditary, congenital, cancer, chronic, and accidental dental conditions. Healthy Paws also includes services like advanced testing, surgeries, hospital stays, prescription medications, alternative therapies, and emergency care. The best part? They don't have caps or limits on coverage, either annual, lifetime, or per incident, and this is included in their standard price plan.
Enrollment is available for pets eight weeks and older. There's a 15-day waiting period for accidents and illnesses, and the waiting period for hip dysplasia is 12 months.
Pricing
With Healthy Paws, you can customize your deductible and reimbursement percentage to find a monthly premium that works for you.
Healthy Paws plans are reasonably priced and even cheaper than less substantial plans offered by other providers. Starting monthly premiums for a 1-year-old male Golden Retriever in zip code 92683 with a $500 annual deductible and 70% reimbursement model is $32.83. For a 1-year-old male American Shorthair in the same zip code with the same deductible and reimbursement model, the monthly premium is $17.19.
In general, Healthy Paws pays on a reimbursement model. Policyholders pay the vet up front for treatment, submit their claims to Healthy Paws, and receive a reimbursement. However, in situations where pet owners can't pay their vet at the time of treatment, they have the option of contacting Healthy Paws and asking them to pay the vet directly. If the veterinary hospital is willing to accept payment from Healthy Paws, the insurer can work directly with it to expedite access to medical records and claim processing. This direct payment option is available on a case-by-case basis and applies to treatment by any licensed vet in the United States. It is not limited to any specific network of vets.
It's important to note that lower deductibles and higher reimbursement percentages result in higher monthly premiums. However, the customizable options available with Healthy Paws allow you to find a plan that suits your budget while still providing comprehensive coverage for your furry friend.
