The ASPCA is a non-profit organization in the US with the mission to prevent cruelty to animals. In 2006, as part of a strategic partnership with the ASPCA®, C&F Insurance Agency, Inc. launched ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance. The agency is based in Akron, Ohio, and was founded in 1997, making it the second oldest pet insurance provider in the United States. Products are underwritten by the United States Fire Insurance Company, which has an A.M. Best Insurance rating of A (Excellent).
Coverage
ASPCA Pet Health Insurance offers customizable plans that reimburse 70% to 90% of covered vet bills, with the option of an unlimited annual coverage limit. The program has multiple plans that offer either accident and illness coverage or accident-only coverage. Their flagship plan, the Complete Coverage®, has annual benefit caps of $5,000 up to unlimited, as well as no per-condition caps or special caps for eligible congenital and hereditary conditions. They also have Accident-Only coverage and Preventative Care Coverage options available at an additional cost.
This program is available for dogs and cats and covers a range of medical conditions such as accidents, dental disease, behavioral issues, illnesses, and hereditary conditions (excluding pre-existing conditions). Additionally, they cover non-traditional treatments like acupuncture and stem cell therapy, and each coverage includes diagnostics, treatment, and exam fees related to covered conditions. However, like all pet insurance, the program does not cover pre-existing conditions that occur or show symptoms before the policy effective date or during any applicable waiting period.
ASPCA Pet Health Insurance has no per-incident limits and allows customers to set an annual cap from $5,000 up to unlimited. The program offers standard reimbursement percentages of 70%, 80%, and 90%, and customers can set their deductible level at $100, $250, or $500.
