There are a lot of language errors that are acceptable (enough) to make when you’re speaking out loud — frankly, you can’t even hear most of them: “they’re” and “their” sound the same in aloud, which generally keeps the peace in conversation.

But when it comes to reading other people’s writing, there’s the odd typo, and then there are those mistakes that irritate you to an irrational degree.

On r/AskReddit, user Aromatic_Ad8890 asked which grammatical errors annoy people more than any others.

And boy, did people have a lot to say. Here are some of the most prevalent, along with some helpful tips and tricks to get them right next time if you're unknowingly committing these grammar errors.

Then/Than

Misused Apostrophes

‘Should Of’ Instead Of ‘Should Have’

Mixing Up Verb And Noun Forms Of Words

Weary/Wary

It’s/Its

Joining Two Words That Should Be Separate

Misusing ‘Myself,’ ‘Me’ Or ‘I’

Angle/Angel

Lose/Loose

Affect/Effect

Redundancy

All this said: there’s nothing worse than policing someone’s language when (a) it doesn’t matter and/or (b) you’re not absolutely, one hundred percent sure you’re right.

Too many to list, from the simple capitalization of proper nouns (and the pronoun "I", which ironically was only capitalized in the first place due to legibility on the first printing presses) to correctly using the word "hubris" as anything but a noun.
