The Witcher 3 sets new Steam player record after Remastered launch

PC players can use path tracing on supported hardware. The PlayStation 5 Pro version adds dedicated support, while the native Switch 2 edition includes motion controls, gyro aiming, mouse controls and touchscreen navigation. Availability spans Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2, with the upgrade free inside the same platform ecosystem for existing owners.

Remastered also includes Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, even for people who previously owned only the base game. That turns the update into a more complete return package, not merely a visual refresh.

Another expansion is still ahead

The renewed peak arrives before CD Projekt Red's planned 2027 expansion, Songs of the Past. The studio is using Remastered to modernize the existing game first, giving returning players time to work through the revised campaign and both earlier expansions before the new story arrives.

For now, the measurable result is narrower but notable: a game released in 2015 set a new concurrent-player record on Steam on its Remastered launch day. The live chart may climb again, so any later comparison should use a fresh SteamDB reading rather than freezing September 29's number in place.
