Dutch consumer group sues Epic Games over alleged pressure on young Fortnite players

NL Times reports that the Massaschade & Consument Foundation has launched a mass claim against Epic Games, alleging Fortnite misleads young players. The foundation says countdown clocks suggest offers are about to expire even when they remain available days later. It seeks refunds for purchases made under that alleged pressure while players were under 21, plus damages, totaling more than €100 million. In a statement to NL Times, Epic said Fortnite’s Item Shop has no timer and that the timer-based sales tactic is not used for players under 18. It also cited parental controls, purchase cancellation and returns.
