Call of Duty has corrected its Warzone Season 1 carry-forward plans: weapon camos from older games will not transfer into the Modern Warfare 4 era. The official Call of Duty blog now labels its earlier promise of legacy-title camos as incorrect and apologizes for the error.
The correction does not remove every piece of older content. Operators, Operator Skins and Weapon Blueprints from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 are still expected to remain available in Warzone. Weapons from those games will also stay accessible through a Legacy tab in the Loadout menu.
Old weapons stay, but customization changes
Access to a legacy weapon will not mean access to its old Gunsmith setup. Call of Duty says Gunsmith functionality and previously saved Custom Loadouts will not be supported for legacy weapons or legacy blueprints.
Instead, each older base weapon will have a five-attachment version that players can unlock through the Armory. Existing legacy blueprints will remain usable with their preset attachment configurations. That preserves a route to older weapons while limiting how much players can rebuild them inside the new Warzone chapter.
The distinction matters because the correction is narrower than a full reversal of carry forward. Older Operators, skins, blueprints and weapons remain in the game; the retracted promise concerns weapon camos.
The new visibility filter is separate
Season 1 will also add an Operator Skin toggle designed for the Modern Warfare 4 chapter. When enabled, the filter replaces non-MW4 Operators worn by enemies, squadmates and party members with Modern Warfare 4 Operators on that player's screen. It does not change the Operator the player has equipped, affect what anybody else sees or turn on by default.
Call of Duty frames the feature as a way to make Warzone look more closely tied to the newest release without deleting older purchases. Raven Software also says it intends to balance weapons every two weeks as it tries to keep the main meta centered on Modern Warfare 4.
