Some Steam desktop users reportedly could not reach game libraries on October 26

Some Steam desktop users could not reach their game libraries because the client remained on “Loading User Data” on Oct. 26, 2026, GAMINGbible’s Olly Smith reported. Smith wrote that Steam’s store and community pages appeared accessible in a browser, even as affected users could not reach their libraries through the desktop client.

According to GAMINGbible’s account of Downdetector, reports began around 9 a.m. GMT and increased around 11 a.m. The site had received 240 reports by 12:08 p.m. GMT. Those submissions were not a count of people locked out. Smith said a test found servers up for three GAMINGbible staff members. In its account of a Reddit discussion, that waiting let some users past the loading screen, but did not work for others.
