Modern Warfare 4's early New Zealand playlists reportedly lack Open Matchmaking

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer went live in New Zealand on Oct. 22, 2026. Soon after, CharlieIntel reported that it “currently has no Open Matchmaking playlists” and that all playlists used the “Standard” system, which debuted in the beta.

Insider Gaming’s Andrew Highton also described the launch playlists as lacking an Open Matchmaking option, citing CharlieIntel’s post. Highton described Black Ops 7’s Open Matchmaking option as having no skill-based matchmaking, or SBMM. His article did not establish how matches are made in Modern Warfare 4’s Standard playlists.

The absence drew a complaint from horriblemercy, who quote-posted CharlieIntel’s New Zealand launch announcement and asked for even one Open Matchmaking playlist. CharlieIntel’s observation came from the early New Zealand rollout. It does not establish what playlists will appear in other regions or later.
