Sam Heughan reportedly set to star opposite Viola Davis in Paramount+ thriller ‘Ascent’

Variety and Deadline report that “Outlander” star Sam Heughan has been cast opposite Viola Davis in Paramount+’s “Ascent.” Heughan will play Conal, a top agent at Ascent Ventures; Davis’s previously announced character is Catriona, a corporate fixer whose estranged daughter is in danger. Variety says John Logan created the series, production is planned for Los Angeles in 2027, and an airdate will be announced later.
